GUMC Committees

One of the best ways to get involved at GUMC, and to practice service is to join and serve on a committee.  Being a part of your committee allows you to have a voice in the important charges discussed at each meeting, take on leadership roles outside of your daily work, network with your fellow faculty members, and to have an opportunity to develop your career.

Invitation to Serve Process – Open April 17 – May 1

The Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs (OFAA) and Medical Center Caucus – Faculty Senate are inviting volunteers to serve on committees. There are two ways to serve on committees: either as a member appointed by the administration or committee leadership or by the Faculty Senate. All appointees have the same responsibilities, with Senate appointees also having the responsibility to periodically inform the Medical Center Caucus – Faculty Senate about the work of the committee. You do not need to be a member of the Senate to serve as a Senate Appointee.

The committees that are open to newly appointed members for the 2024-2025 academic year have application links below underneath the names of the committees. You must complete an application of interest for each committee you are interested in by Wednesday, May 1 to be considered. Once the applications have been considered and reviewed by the leadership of each committee and the Senate, you will be notified of the decision by May 24 by either the committee chair or the Medical Center Caucus Chair.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact ofaa@georgetown.edu.
