Step 3: Movement from Tenure Line to Research Line

A member of the Faculty may request appointment to the Research-line at any time before a tenure decision. Such requests follow the same procedures as if they were initial appointments, with the following being noted:

1. Movement from the Tenure-line to the Research-line will result in loss of tenure or tenure eligibility.
2. Individuals moving from the Tenure-line to the Research-line will receive the comparable rank he/she held in the Tenure-line.
3. Movement to the Research-line will generally not be permitted for promotion of an individual who has failed promotion in the Tenure-line if such failure of promotion resulted from lack of evidence of scholarly productivity.
