Description of American Journal Experts: Offers free resources including templates, infographics, webinars, videos, writing guides, and articles on writing scholarly work. For all writing, regardless of proficiency. Services include: English Language Editing, Academic Translation, Manuscript Formatting, Figures/Tables/Custom Illustration, Journal Recommendation, Poster Preparation.

Description of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Coursera: Acquire the knowledge and skills that are deemed to be essential to success in scientific writing. You will develop your expertise with a range of academic literacy skills and self-editing strategies to prepare a publishable manuscript that editors will take seriously. You will learn the unwritten rules of good writing to meet the requirements of modern-day research publications. You will also learn practical tools and techniques for writing an easy-to-read persuasive grant proposal and a convincing request for funding. Finally, you will gain skills necessary to communicate information obtained research

Description of Plain Language resource: This website consists of five sections and a checklist you can print. In each section, you will find a number of cards you can flip through to learn about using plain language in your work. When you are done with the final section, you can print a certificate of completion.

Description of University of Utah Grant Writing Coaching Groups Study: If you are an early stage researcher ready to write a new or revised NIH-style proposal and are interested in receiving coaching support while you write, then consider applying for entry into the University of Utah Grant Writing Coaching Research Study funded by the NIH Common Fund (grant U01 GM132366; administered by the NIGMS). This study will compare variations of an established grant writing group coaching process to identify features that influence its effectiveness. Cohort 4 is closed, but cohorts 5 and 6 will open for application soon.

Cost: Free, but must apply to be accepted into a cohort.

Resources for Spoken and Written English

Description of GUSCS English Language Center: The mission of the English Language Center (ELC) is to promote global understanding and education through programs and services that enhance English language proficiency, language teaching, and intercultural understanding. Through applied and practical methods, the ELC promotes academic excellence in teaching and learning that is guided by a commitment to diversity and tolerance, and respect for the individual.

Cost: $540 for Fall/Spring; $480 for Summer (Evening and Weekend program); Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) could be used for University employed faculty

Description of Georgia Tech Coursera: Improve Your English Communication Skills. Write and speak more professionally in English to increase your business success.

Description of National Research Mentoring Network: Provides mentoring programs and resources for senior faculty, postdocs, and professional researchers; free to become a member and utilize some of the online resources; costs of events and programs vary

Description of Nature Publishing: English Communication for Scientists: This book is intended as a brief guide to help scientists communicate more effectively in English, designed for non-native speakers but potentially useful to anyone! It is organized into 6 self-contained units covering communicating as a scientist, writing scientific papers, writing correspondence, giving oral presentations, interacting during conference sessions, and communicating in the classroom.
