GUMC Committees
One of the best ways to get involved at GUMC, and to practice service is to join and serve on a committee. Being a part of your committee allows you to have a voice in the important charges discussed at each meeting, take on leadership roles outside of your daily work, network with your fellow faculty members, and to have an opportunity to develop your career.
Invitation to Serve on Committees
Each Spring, the Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs (OFAA) invites faculty members to consider serving on committees that are seeking new members. Information on the committees that are open to new members and applications can be found below. The committees that are seeking new members have green application buttons below each of their names (make sure to scroll all the way down to view all committees). You can also view this consolidated list of committees seeking new members.
There are two ways to serve on committees: either as a member appointed by the administration (“Administrative Appointee”) or by the Faculty Senate (“Senate Appointee”). All appointees have the same responsibilities. You do not need to be a member of the Senate to serve as a Senate Appointee.
You must submit a completed application for each committee in which you are interested by Wednesday, March 5 to be considered. Once the applications have been considered and reviewed, you will be notified of the decisions during April and May.
If you have any questions about the process or applications, please contact ofaa@georgetown.edu.
