GUMC Mentoring Program: Mentor

Please note, for this program, we do not have an application process for mentors. The mentor is selected by the mentee, and the mentor only participates in the second half of the program.  If you are interested in being a mentor, please email gumcmentoring@georgetown.edu, and we can recommend you to one of our mentees in the program if their goals/mentoring needs align with your areas of expertise and knowledge.

We encourage people who are interested in mentoring, to consider applying to be a pod leader.

Part 2: Professional Development Implementation (Months 5 – 8)

Application Process

As mentioned above, or this program, we do not have an application process for mentors. The mentor is selected by the mentee, and the mentor only participates in the second half of the program.  If you are interested in being a mentor, please email gumcmentoring@georgetown.edu, and we can recommend you to one of our mentees in the program if their goals/mentoring needs align with your areas of expertise and knowledge.

Mentor must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must have had a faculty appointment with Georgetown University for at least two years or more
  • We strongly recommend that the mentor is at least one rank above the rank of the mentee
  • Must have some experience as a mentor to other faculty members (formal or informal)
  • Must be committed to the time requirements necessary for the role
