Georgetown Vet Ally

The mission of the VET Ally program is to provide military-connected students with a welcoming and supportive environment in which they can pursue their academic, personal, and professional goals. In order to create this environment, awareness is required so that members of Georgetown’s community who are not directly connected to the military can create a supportive campus. The VET Ally Program provides our campus with a visible network of knowledgeable supporters of service members, veterans, and military families. The Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs at GUMC is a supporter of the Georgetown Vet Ally program. Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion in the Georgetown University School of Medicine cultivates a culture of inclusiveness to ensure they prepare compassionate and respectful physicians who are ready to serve diverse populations.  As a part of your onboarding, you are also required to take a diversity and inclusion online training that will be prompted in the Georgetown Management System with your other onboarding tasks.

Policies

​MedStar Health

On June 30, 2000, Georgetown University and MedStar Health finalized a clinical partnership agreement under which MedStar owns, operates, and has financial responsibility for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, a faculty practice group, and a network of community physician practices. MedStar Georgetown University Hospital also has responsibility for continuing medical education (CME) and graduate medical education (i.e., the education of residents, interns, and fellows).

Georgetown University continues to own, operate, and have financial responsibility for undergraduate medical education and research—including the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing & Health Studies, and the medical research enterprise. These units continue to be known collectively as Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC).

Under the clinical partnership agreement, non-university employed appointments fall under MedStar employment.  An enhanced clinical partnership agreement between Medstar and GUMC was finalized in June 2017.
